Government should have the resources necessary to do the jobs it has to do and do them well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are there too many people and dollars sloshing around the Department of Defense?&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/quincyinst.org\/2022\/02\/03\/what-a-waste-778-billion-for-the-pentagon-and-still-counting\/\">Almost certainly<\/a>! Can we eliminate the billions of dollars and large bureaucracies at the state level doling out corporate subsidies?&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/boondoggle.substack.com\/p\/corporate-subsidies-versus-schools\">Yes, we can<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as this study shows, the prudent thing to do for the public \u2014 in terms of dollars and service \u2014 is to have&nbsp;<em>more&nbsp;<\/em>public transportation employees, to ensure that states can fulfill their core function of building infrastructure without blowing money on consultants and mistakes\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boondoggle.substack.com\/p\/the-secret-thats-driving-up-highway\">https:\/\/boondoggle.substack.com\/p\/the-secret-thats-driving-up-highway<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cStudies like this are why I get supremely annoyed by folks who like to talk about the \u201csize of government\u201d as if it\u2019s meaningful measure of anything.
